History of a Raging Bull: LAMBORGHINI

Ferruccio Lamborghini (1916 – 1993), a clear headed businessman, a diehard fast car lover, a great Italian entrepreneurial personality and the founder of most dominating sports car brand “LAMBORGHINI”. The story of this multi-million dollar exotic car empire is nothing less than a fairy tale. So here it goes…….

The official history of “Lamborghini Automobili” starts in 1963 when Ferruccio decided to build a luxury sports car factory. At that time he was already a very rich man with the help of his tractor industry. Ferruccio Lamborghini was born on a farm in the rural town of Renazzo Di Cento on 28th April 1916. With a high ambition, he graduated engineering degree from the technical university of Bologna.From the self built workshop, Ferruccio produced self-developed tractors with two, three and four cylinder diesel engines in 1949. By the time in 1954, the company moved its base to a new plant with a production of 400 tractors per month, which ultimately makes this company one of the biggest agricultural machinery manufacturers of Italy in the late sixties.

With the profits from tractor industry, Ferruccio established “Automobili Ferruccio Lamborghini” in May 1963. In 1964 company introduced its first car to customers, the 350 GT with a V12 engine. Total 120 units of this model were built. Later that year, company improvised that model to 400 GT which took the overall production figure to 273 units. Between October 1965 and June 1966, Lamborghini introduced numbers of new models of cars like 3500 GTZ, 350 Spyder, Monza 400, Miura etc. Year by year, Lamborghini produced several amazing models like Jarama, Urraco, Miura, Espada, Countach (1973), Diablo, Huracan, Aventador, Gallardo and Murcielago to gift the thrill of speed with beauty to its customers.

The magnificent success of sixties still continues to follow Lamborghini. Ferruccio Lamborghini gave all his life to take this company to the peak of success. The great man died of a heart attack on 20th February 1993. But his legend of success still continues with the Lamborghini Company.
